Not Today - Make Monday Suck Less When Working From Home

If you’re anything like us, working from home is definitely a blessing, but it can be a bit challenging at times…especially during Quarantine.

Am I right?

With all that’s going on due to Covid-19, the days feel like they’re melting together. Our weekend activities have now become our daily activities and our daily activities feel like they’re long, drawn-out. Making it hard to tell the difference between business and normal life.

When you work from home, keeping a healthy work-life balance is the key and it all starts with Monday.

Monday represents the breakup of the weekend and the start of a new week. But, when you’re not following a work from home schedule, or worse, working at a job you hate, Monday’s can really suck!

Before we started our own business, I remember practically crying in the car on my way to work every Monday morning because I just wanted to do what I wanted to do; Not be stuck behind a cubicle all day.

Now that I work from home, my goal is to feel refreshed and excited about every day. I want to start each week off and begin new. But being productive isn’t always easy. For a while, I started to feel a sense of cabin fever and wasn’t able to feel like I was escaping “the office”. Slowly, I could feel myself inching toward burnout. The idea of Monday and starting off a new week started to suck. It felt more and more like “work” and that was exactly what I didn’t want to feel when running a business.

Check out the 6 productivity ideas you can implement NOW to help your Monday feel a lot less “ugh.”

Coffee in bed - Make Mondays Suck Less When Working From Home

1. Wake Up Your Mind

Get your mind right and the rest will follow. For me, this is usually a super-strong dose of caffeine because…coffee is everything. But lately, I’ve been taking an alternative with B-Lixr nootropics and I LOVE it. Each little bottle of Bee Pollen helps to quickly clear brain fog and give you mental focus without the jittery side effects and afternoon crash of coffee. I’m obsessed with adding this to my morning routine to get shit done and make Mondays suck less when working from home.

Calendar - Make Mondays Suck Less When Working From Home

2. Prepare the Week

Start your week off right with the proper preparation. Monday runs a lot more smoothly when you already know what lies ahead in your day to day activity. This means creating a things-to-do list on Sunday night and following a pre-planned content calendar. When your day is pre-planned, you’re able to get more done. Even on Mondays, you wake up feeling like you just want to lay in bed and not do “all the things.”

3. Move Your Body

One of the biggest ways to fall into a rut is to become stagnant. Make Monday suck less when working from home by getting your blood flowing. Start your day off with some physical movement that isn’t just turning over in bed. Take on activities like, yoga, go for a walk,  get your cardio on, etc. You can even become a multi-tasking Queen by literally spinning your wheels while you work. This Fitdesk workout bike is attached to a desk to help you stay active while creating content (well at least that’s what we would use it for).

Grateful journal - make monday suck less

4. Keep a Gratitude Journal

Okay… I admit it. I’ve jumped on the gratitude journal bandwagon! Using a journal to jot down all the things that you’re thankful for is a great way to glow up and activate your happy feels. Take a moment and jot down all of the things you’re thankful for (yes, it can be as simple as tacos). I find that starting off the day by spending at least 15 minutes focusing on journaling, helps me feel better. Get encouragement to go on and be thankful each day. Looking for a cute, but sassy gratitude journal? I love this “Zen AF” journal by Monica Sweeney.

5. Listen to Music + Podcasts

If you’re not listening to a podcast or your fave song to make Mondays suck less when working from home… what are you even doing? Get your adrenaline going by turning on your morning playlist. Besides music, find a podcast that gives you empowerment and helps you gain knowledge to feel some Monday inspo. We’re huge fans of Angie Lee’s podcast because of her spunky energy when delivering the deets on all things marketing. We’re also big on Namaste Jenay’s podcast, The Soulpreneur show to get some mental clarity mixed with a bit of attitude. Add music and podcasts to your mix to get your day started off right.

6. Work on Your Biz Minimally

Say it with me… “Work Smarter to Chill Harder.” Place this quote on a post-it note and repeat it throughout the day because it’s the shit! Listen, Sis, there is no rule that says you need to slave away at your laptop all day to be successful. If you’re not feeling very “worky,” focusing on your business for at least 2 uninterrupted hours a day will keep your business running. We’re not always going to feel motivated, so you must learn to be disciplined. Open your laptop from the bed, set your timer for 2 hours, get a few things done, and make Mondays suck less when working from home. This will make the rest of the week run smoothly and keep you from having to play catch up.
