 As a lazy busy female entrepreneur, I yearn for more sleep. When I found out there was actually a way to fall asleep in 1 minute, I was stoked. If you’re like my sister, you can sleep almost anywhere. For me, the girl with a million mental tabs open, sleep is rare. This isn’t healthy, especially when insomnia takes over for long bouts of time resulting in a sleep burnout.

I’ve taken over the counter sleeping pills that don’t work. I’ve sipped on turmeric drinks that promise to put me to sleep; tasted delicious, but no luck. So it was amazing when I was finally able to run across this 1-minute sleep method that actually works! Sounds crazy right? Read on to find out all about it.

I asked the same thing. “What is the fall asleep in 1-minute method? Aside from being an insomniac’s best friend, it’s a breathing technique! To elaborate further, it’s called “The 4-7-8” breathing trick. Pretty simple right?

How do You Do The 1 Minute Sleep Method?

To fall asleep in 1 minute, you breathe! The 4-7-8 breathing method works to help you fall asleep in 1 minute and all you have to do is,  lay down in your bed (or couch, or floor, wherever you sleep)  breathe through your nose for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 7 seconds, and finally you exhale out of your mouth for 8 seconds. That’s it, that’s all!  and it worked like a charm.

Why The 1 Minute Sleep Method Works?

I couldn’t understand why simply breathing helped me to fall asleep in 1 minute? I’ve been breathing my whole life and always had issues sleeping, so what gave? It works because you’re breathing at such a calculated pace while focusing on the direction of your breathing. As you concentrate, your heart rate slows down.

“By extending the inhale to a count of four, you are forcing yourself to take in more oxygen. Allowing the oxygen to affect your bloodstream by holding your breath for seven seconds, and then exhaling steadily for eight seconds. It will instantly relax your heart, mind, and overall central nervous system because you are controlling the breath versus continuing to breathe short, shallow gasps of air.” {via}

It’s simple, use this 4-7-8 method when you need to fall asleep in 1 minute!  The coolest thing about this technique is that you can use it anytime. I have a lot of trouble sleeping when I travel, so this technique works wonders. Also, being a busy entrepreneur, running a business can be mentally draining. This 1-minute sleep technique works wonders for stressful, sleepless nights. Try it whenever you need to get to sleep fast.

It works best for me right after I shower and relax. I throw on pajamas, douse myself in lavender oils and begin the technique by breathing through my nose for 4 seconds. Needless to say, I fall asleep in 1 minute because I never remember much else after. It’s magical.
