How to Be Productive When You’re Feeling Lazy
Stay productive when you don't feel motivated
We don’t always feel motivated am I right? Let’s talk about ways to slay your day and be productive when you’re feeling lazy or under the weather.
Sis, we totally understand your pain. We’ve been working from home for the last few years, so we understand first hand how important it is to adopt a healthy routine.
Listen, as a solopreneur or entrepreneur who works from home, I’m not always running around like a ball of energy. And with the Covid-19 quarantine pushing the stay at home trend to be our new normal, finding a way to remain productive, binge Netflix, show up on Instagram, parent, and practice self-care can be daunting AF!
Sound familiar?

Here’s the thing…as business owners, we need to make sure that our business stays afloat even on the days we’re not feeling like getting out of bed and being proactive. But, it’s also important that we spend time with friends and family and take the time to listen to our bodies; Burnout is a real thing… it’s a must we avoid it.
Over the course of time, we’ve figured out a way to create a healthy work-life balance that helps us to not only keep our business running on autopilot but focus on remaining healthy. Keep reading to learn how to slay your day and be productive when you’re feeling lazy.
1. Work from your bed
We wouldn’t be called The Bed Head Society if we didn’t believe in working from bed. Screw the traditional belief that you have to work from a desk or office in order to be productive or make money. It’s Bullshit. Living the “laptop lifestyle” is all about working from wherever you have WiFi; Including your bed. (I’m currently working from my bed desk as I type this.) Choose the no pants attire and get your work done like the badass boss that you are. Slay the day the Bed Head way!
2. Automate Your Biz Tasks
Looking to be productive when you’re feeling lazy? Automate your business tasks by using productivity tools and methods. We’re all about working smarter to chill harder, which is why we swear by tools like Later media to help schedule and maintain our business on social media ahead of time. Use the scheduling option within WordPress to see that your blog posts show up on time without worry. Also, using tools like Asana is perfect for helping you maintain projects and launch dates alone or with your team. If you’re not using automation tools in your biz, what are you doing with your life? Check out those we’ve listed here to help your business stay moving even on the days you’re not.
3. Focus on Doing Small but Effective Tasks
Make sure the small tasks on your to-do list get checked off even when you feel “ugh.” Staying productive is about completing all tasks, not just the big ones. Am I right? While you replenish, tackle tasks like checking emails, responding to messages in your Instagram DM’s, preparing content for your blog, or even cleaning out your inbox, etc. The idea is to get things done while you stay slightly relaxed. Who said Multi-Tasking wasn’t productive?
4. Netflix & Biz
You can’t be productive when you’re feeling lazy if you’re not throwing a bit of Netflix and Biz into the mix. Listen… the best part of working from home is that you make the rules. If you’re in a “not so worky” mood then it’s ok to mix a little business with pleasure. Take a moment to plop in front of the t.v. and binge your fave show while you work from your phone or laptop. For me, having a bit of background noise while I work helps me to get more done. Contrary to popular belief, being an entrepreneur is not a one size fits all format. Do what works for you, even if it involves non-conventional practices. Be a good, bad influence! We support it.
5. Give Yourself a Lazy Day
One of the worst parts of enjoying self-care is the guilt that comes with it sometimes. Sound familiar? We get it… but here’s your permission slip to be lazy. Sometimes, the most productive thing you can do is nothing at all. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or simply like you just can’t even… it’s a sign you need to chill. When you have your business automated, taking a day to do nothing is the perfect way to be productive when you’re feeling lazy. Get comfy, turn off your phone and alerts, grab some snacks, curl up in bed or wherever feels comfortable and go with the flow.
6. Take a Bath + Read a Book
This is one of my favorite tips to slay the day and be productive when you’re feeling lazy. When it comes to being productive, I love the idea of working from home. And I always make sure to incorporate self -care into my day. When you want to get away from it all, relaxing in a warm, aromatherapy oil filled bath while reading a good book is everything. If you’re not a big reader, try audible or niche related podcasts. I feel like educating myself in my business while I relax helps me to stay knowledgable and ready to show up as a leader in my business.
